World Tamil Conference

27th June 2010
WORLD TAMIL CONFERENCE
1. I was a born in a Village called ‘Kirathur’ in the Vilavancode Taluk of Kanyakumari
District of the erstwhile State of Travancore (now Kerala State in India) on 9th of March 1953 and my mother tongue is Malayalam having studied upto S.S.L.C. in Malayalam Medium Schools there. Now my Native Place is in the same Kanyakumari District of Tamil Nadu State in India after the Reorganization of States in India effected in the year 1956. But I studied for ‘Tamil Pulavar’ for about six months after completing my S.S.L.C.
2. I then learnt that Tamil Country was lying in between “Vadavenkadam then Kumari
Aiyide Tamil koorum Nallulakam”. Tamil speaking people were correctly described:- “Tamilar entoru enamundu thaniye otherkoru gunamundu”. ”Kal thonta man thonta, mun thonti moothakudi”. Dravidian civilization and culture based on the Tamil literature is one of the ancient civilizations of the World. Dravidian Civilization is older to the ‘Indus Valley Civilization’. Tamilians are also described by the 18th century Venetian Traveller “Vasco da Gama” as the darkest but honest people.
3. Tamil language and Tamil Grammar were initially encoded by ‘Rishi Augustiar’ called “Augustiyagamam”. Augustiagamam was destroyed by sea water inundation in a ‘Sunami’ which occurred thousands of years ago. Thereafter, disciple of Augustiar called “Tholkapier” encoded the latter day Tamil language and Tamil Grammar in the book called “Tholcopyam”. As per the great classical Tamil language, there are 269 alphabets (letters) (i. e. ontozhi munootezhuvananbha).
4. I am glad that World Tamil Conference is successfully held at Coimbatore at the auspicious of Kalaingor and the present C. M. of Tamil Nadu, Thiru Muthuvel Karunanidhi. Coimbatore is near Erode where “Thantai Periyar” whose nationalistic ideals I salute and respect, was borne. Being also an Indian Tamilian now, I indeed feel proud of the World Tamil Conference.
T.M.NADAR,
Kalyan, Maharashtra.
